It has been almost two years since Lymee awoke to find herself in the midst of a battle in an oriental fantasy like world. She has spent the past year and a half traveling the world with her companions and not everything that has happened to her in that time has been good. While her journey has had its ups and downs she feels that she is no closer to finding the thing that she is searching for or forgiving the woman she had once loved.
While on the trail of a Sorceress that might know how Lymee came to be in this world Lymee hears rumors about someone claiming to be the Heavenly Fox. Someone that is not her.
Now Lymee must track down this person and hopefully undo any damage they might have caused but despite her best efforts Lymee once again gets swept up into political intrigue, assassinations and even more lesbian love.

I just couldn't really get into this story. I don't know why. Sam Ryan put a lot of effort into making the characters more than one-dimensional caricatures and while there is nothing special about the plot, it is not overly simple.I think my problem is that while the characters are fleshed out, I just never really found a reason to like any of them. The main heroine is still wishy-washy. I can't understand why anyone would show her the level of respect she gets from some people in this world. Her friends are either ineffectual problems, or lovestruck fools who'll do anything to please her.
In the end the story ended up leaving little to no impression on me. I enjoyed the fact that Sam Ryan tried to do something a little different, but ended up feeling that other than the fact that women run the world this story is set in, its not much different from hundreds of other coming-of-age/travel to discover myself tales I've read over the years.
Its something, but not enough for me to give it more stars.

Absolutely love this story. The world that Sam paints is rich and interesting. Can't wait for the next book
This continued the story a couple years after the first book. I enjoyed it but wish We would have seen more of the travels. Can't wait to read the next book!
Rape fest as usual. I wish authors could be a little more..original.
The sequel is just amazing!! Lymee is definitely not the same idealistic girl as she was before, she has changed for perhaps better or worse (depend on the reader). There is definitely a good characters development going on in this book; it's much more suspenseful and philosophical than the previous. Recommend for readers looking for a plot twist and philosophical thinker.
If you enjoyed the first book, you will enjoy this book. The focus here is slightly different, being primarily concerned with the wanderings of a small band. There's lots of interesting bits and pieces though, with a good bit of action. What can I say, I like it.
Compared to the first book, there's a noted decrease in grammatical issues, though I did notice a few here and there. I look forward to reading more of this author's work.
I liked the first book, but the characters seemed a little flat. This book was much richer. In good stories the characters change and grow. Not just the main character, but others as well. This has character growth, lots of action, some great theological pondering, plus lesbians. What more could you want?

Needs a once over by an editor however. Much like the first novel.
